GOAT - Oh Death

If it takes you less than a second to at least roughly guess the genre by the cover, then you're probably very new to everything psychedelic rock. To pin down the exact sound however, that remains a close to impossible task - even if you've already listened to this new album of the Swedes Goat.

One thing is for sure though: This vivid weird dirty image is indeed a pretty accurate representation of what awaits you inside.

GOAT - Oh Death (Cloudberry Swirl vinyl LP) (2022)

Don't let me beat around the bush here: This shit is fucking electric and explosive! And whatever may be your go-to association for "psych" - this one will probably blast that imagination.

Yeah, it has trippy guitar jams. But then it also has tons of African tribal elements, European folk, sax and piano driven free jazz bursts - and of course those dirty underpants full of super nasty 1970's funk.
From the fiery licks and leads to the chaotic solos, from the killer groove percussion excesses to the female post punk cult leader vocals - everything on this danceable psych party album is gloriously in-your-face and makes me want to kick myself in the brain for not taking the chance to see them live in Hamburg a couple of weeks ago. This record flies by incredibly fast. And the cherry on top is that as a the whole this mix hardly reminds me of any other band out there. Djinn doesn't count, because they are a gathering of Goat and Hills members.

So yeah, "Oh Death" is just funking awesome!
