PHOTOGRAPHY 2022: 35mm and Instamatic

Yet another view back on my photography in 2022 and we're finally getting to the "real" stuff aka film, with this post being all about the small formats.

Not only didn't I shoot a lot, but sadly one film was completely unexposed, because my "pseudorama" toy camera was broken. At least I immediately found a proper new replacement for that one. A couple of pictures from December are actually still in that Cypréa Two-Way Cam, because I haven't finished my recent film yet. So if one of those is the absolute money shot I'll show it later in a seperate post I guess.

Here's a selection from the rest, starting in March with the La Sardina Belle Starr and expired Kodak Portra 400 NC of unknown age:

Needed a long time - from mid June in Berlin (really just the first picture here) to October in the Netherlands to fill the expired Kodak Ektachrome 320 in one of my good old Chupa Chups Photo Pops:

Yeah. And that was almost all. Here's my first film (another expired Kodak Portra 400NC) with the new Cypréa, exposed in May and June:

Not 35mm, but an similarly small square format is the rare Instamatic format, which I used in Berlin. I already presented the complete Kodacolor VR CL 126 film in a seperate post, so here are just two of its twenty-four frames as a sample. Damn, I wish those things were easier to get!

Next up: medium format!

CCPP: Wandelbos

Just a couple of freshly scanned pictures from the Wandelbos park in the west of Tilburg, Netherlands, taken with one of my good old Chupa Chups Photo Pop plastic lens toy cameras. My usual go-to with slide film is to cross-process it as if it was negative film to achieve those typical interesting shifts of the colours, but this time I just forgot to include that wish in my order for the laboratory.

So here any "weirdness" of the tone purely comes from the Kodak Ektachrome 320 being long overripe (exact expiration date unknown) and living in the camera for months, since I just shot one single hotel room picture in Berlin back in June, remembered the filled camera for a day in July and afterwards let it collect dust on my desk, until I finally took it with me this month to capture some light on a black metal day.

The pictures are not all spectacular, but I like them enough. I also already got some more "flashy" shots covered in my 40th weekly dose of Digital Harinezumi 3.0. photographs anyway.

PHOTOGRAPHY 2019: film

Holga GN + Fuji Neopan Acros 100, 04/2019

I've already spoiled it in my look back on my digital photography in 2019: I didn't shoot many films at all this year. Pretty sure it's my record low since 2006.

A couple of weeks ago (early December) I received a bag with three developed films back from the laboratory. The one film I had been filling the weeks and months before was totally empty, because the film hadn't been loaded into the Split Cam correctly - again. *sigh*

The next film took me a while to recognize. Is this really mine? Ahhh, that was back in May.

Most of the third film was shot on the same day, so yes, I didn't shoot a single frame of film during the second half of the year - even when I thought I was.

However in the compilation below I included a good portion of pictures I haven't shown anywhere else yet. And in case you're interested in more stuff from the cameras I used, you can find it on my flickr account in the following albums:

The good news:

Today on my New Year's Day walk - a tradition which I paused last year due to bad weather - I filled half an Agfa APX in my La Sardina Sea Pride. So my start into 2020 is already a little more promising. Let's hope I can keep it up!

And now let's see what I did in 2019!

In January I stopped for a couple of shots on one of the few snow days:

In February I dedicated a whole 30 picture series to an abandoned supermarket in Itzehoe:

And of course I also tried to incorporate a little film in my annually Roadburn Festival trip to the Netherlands in April:

I left one 6 x 12 cm double frame free to shoot at least one picture on April 28th, which was Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day:
