Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2023

Hey, on April 30th it Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day again! This year I spent it with my Holga Wide Pinhole Camera and took a couple of 6 x 12 cm photographs.

Three years ago on another occasion I had shot a roll of Rewecolor 2000 film with the same camera. Since the film had already expired in August 1974 and was possibly designed to be developed in an older colour process, which isn't available anymore, I had it developed as black and white instead. The result were some pretty nice blue-toned monochrome pictures.

I still had a second roll from the same stash, so I decided to reprise that aesthetic. On a side-note I got the development for free this time, because the laboratory thought it was a mistake. Not going to complain about that... They did what they were supposed to do, I'm happy with the results - and here's the rest of the film:

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2022

As I've already mentioned in my write-up of the last day of the amazing Roadburn Festival, that Sunday also happened to be the last one of April, which automatically translates to Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

I participated by filling an expired Lomography Rescale 100 film in the Loonse en Drunense Duinen near Tilburg.

My camera was a customized Agfa Clack, which I shockingly hadn't used since 2013. Would have never guessed it was that long ago! Damn.

It's also hard to get a camera steady for a long time on very soft and sandy ground, as you can clearly see on most of these pictures.

Still like those images though.

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2021

In 2018 I completely missed it and the last two years I participated, yet obviously didn't bother to write a blog post about it. But since I'm clearly lacking posts which are not music reviews, here we go again:

One month ago on April 25th was... *drumroll* ...
 Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2021!

I once again took my favorite pinhole camera, the Holga 120 Wide Pinhole Camera (short: Holga WPC) for a walk, which would probably have been longer and included one more film without my blood sugar bullshit. But I'm quite satisfied with the six 6 x 12 cm frames from the film I got (Ilford HP5 Plus 400, expired 09/2019) anyways.

The first of the following images has already been randomly chosen by the "explore" algorithm on flickr and is already my second "most popular" picture of all time there. Not that I think that means much, though.

The last one is my actual official submission to the pinholeday.org website.

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2017

It was that time of the year again. Sunday, April 29th 2017 was Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. I didn't do much though, only shot two pictures with my Holga Wide Pinhole Camera on a Lomography Redscale film which was still inside the cam.

There's no entry from me on the official site, simply because I missed the uploading deadline with my film still being in the laboratory at the time.

No tripod was involved. The upper photo is a double exposure where I winded the film only one frame further (instead of two) and so it's even wider than 6 x 12 cm.

The second one... well, as I said, no tripod was involved, so I think it's ok for that. But the first one is obviously better.

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2016

I missed it the last two years, but this time I wanted to participate on the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day again, which fell on April 24th 2016.

It's only one film in one pinhole camera (even though I have two more), but - hey! - it's better than nothing, right?

So here are all six pictures plus two making ofs, which facebook saved from my harddrive crash.

camera: Holga Wide Pinhole Camera (frame format 6x12 cm)
film: ORWO NP 20 (expired 07/1991)

WPPD 2013 : Holga Wide Pinhole Camera
