Here's a fuzzy little mint-green something to get me in the right mood for the next Roadburn Festival (and calm me down from the inevitable clashes on the freshly published running order). It's an EP of the joint performance featuring Japanese kraut rockers Minami Deutsch and former Can singer Damo Suzuki.
MINAMI DEUTSCH & DAMO SUZUKI - Live At Roadburn Festival (bottle clear 10" vinyl) (2019)
Coming on a 45rpm ten inch record clocking in under twenty-three minutes, this is of course not a documentation of the complete show which took place in the Green Room at last year's Roadburn.
It's a neat edit giving us approximately half of the live jam in three tracks on a nice little physical release on Fuzz Club. The pressing of five-hundred copies is already sold out however, so you psych freaks probably have to steal it or just be content with the digital version.

Musically there isn't really much to describe, because most shifts and turns in this improvisation are quite subtle, with the fast-paced robotnik (or as in the second part tribal) rhythm section as reluctant to take a break just as Suzuki is unwilling to a breath from his endless signature kraut scats.
While the tirelessness of the performance in itself is already intriguing, the creative dynamic guitars are really what's keeping my interest the most.
Minami Deutsch & Damo Suzuki live at Roadburn 2018 |
Even if you're new to this blend of psychedelic music or are in need of acquaintance to the rather odd vocals; the short format makes this rather digestible.
Roadburn live recordings seldom disappoint and this is no exception.
A great EP for friends of the genre in itself, but also once again a beautiful piece of sonic memorabilia for us lucky ones who attended this exclusive event.
