I almost forgot that I ordered this album from Fuzz Club Records alongside my latest King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard purchase. And I'm not complaining now after the arrival of the physical reminder.
ASHINOA - Un'altra Forma (pink vinyl LP) (2025)
This French Psychedelic project around Matteo Fabbri (bass, synth, occasionally also flute, guitar or vocals) and Mathias Chirpaz stands out with a wonderfully contemporary sound, which honours electronic and acoustic Kraut and Prog from the 70's, but also moves on from motorik to Trip Hop and breakbeats and balances dreamlike synth landscapes with jazzy bits and beautiful piano.
As so often in Psych music the vocals aren't the main character and some of the rather spoken word performances aren't exactly my favorite part of this light pink record either. However they are still ok, so that doesn't diminish the overall wonderful, timeless and light atmosphere of this little gem.
